WHAT THEY SAID
"Yeah. I mean come on, I'd do it" * — that's Matt Sorum when radio host Mike Hsu floated the idea of a Velvet Revolver reunion with Halestorm's Lzzy Hale on lead vocals. Sorum laughed off the logistics and suggested someone give Slash and Duff McKagan a call *, †.
THE DETAILS
- Sorum was talking to Mike Hsu at Worcester, Massachusetts station 100 FM The Pike, promoting the new *Sound & Vision Live* concert film and charity vinyl he produced *, †.
- It was recorded at the first Palm Springs Sound & Vision Awards at the Plaza Theatre on March 2, 2026, honoring Paul Rodgers and Geezer Butler †.
- Hale sang Bad Company's "Shooting Star," and Sorum says Butler personally told him she was the best singer he'd heard since Tina Turner *, †.
- Sorum says he wanted female energy in the all-star lineup instead of an all-dude bill †.
- Velvet Revolver put out *Contraband* (2004) and *Libertad* (2007), cut Scott Weiland loose in April 2008, and never replaced him *, †.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Nothing is in motion — this is one drummer saying yes to a hypothetical, with no word from Slash, McKagan, Kushner or Hale herself.
