THE DROP
Trivium dropped "Dead Inside Of Me" on September 16, the first taste of their eleventh studio album *, ††. It's built on a riff bassist Paolo Gregoletto sat on for five or six years under the working title "Slam" *, †, **.
WHAT TO KNOW
- First new full-length material since 2021's "In The Court Of The Dragon," following 2025's three-song "Struck Dead" EP *, ††.
- First single of the Alex Rudinger era — the ex-Whitechapel drummer joined for touring and writing in fall 2025, nine years after Trivium first asked ††.
- Gregoletto on the concept: "Take a death metal riff and play it like a stadium rock song." *
- Described as groove-heavy, slowed-down chugging with modern thrash riffing and a loud bass line †, **.
- Lyrics pull from honne and tatemae — private feelings versus public mask *, **.
- Video directed by Pavel Trebukhin *, **.
THE TAKE
"Death metal riff played like stadium rock" is exactly the tightrope Trivium have walked their whole career, and when they nail it you get "Ascendancy" — Metal Hammer's top-15 metal album of this century *. The detail worth watching is the vocal approach: Gregoletto says the screams and cleans were meant to weave into one voice *, †, which is a harder trick than any riff.
