THE ANNOUNCEMENT
Green Day switched on a 24/7 YouTube stream called Green Day TV on August 6 †. The draw isn't the music videos everybody has seen a thousand times — it's unseen footage from recording sessions, video shoots and backstage going back close to three decades *†. It also lands eight days before their movie hits theaters, so the timing is no accident.
THE DETAILS
- Runs nonstop with videos, concert footage and archival material, plus surprise drops, giveaways and trivia *†
- Weekly variety series "Transmission Unknown" hosted by Tre Cool, built around emerging artists, interviews and comedy sketches *†
- Joins SiriusXM's Green Day's Idiot Nation as a direct-to-fan outlet, and will break merch, touring and release news *
- "Nimrods," written and directed by Lee Kirk with Armstrong, Dirnt and Cool producing, in theaters August 14 *†
- The 30-track "Nimrods" soundtrack is already out on digital, cassette, vinyl and CD — 22 catalog songs, unreleased live recordings and "I'm Never Gonna R.I.P.," their first new music since "Saviors" *†
- Billie Joe Armstrong has October dates with Pinhead Gunpowder †
SUPPORT
The Paradox, Ultra Q, Mckenna Grace and the film's fictional band appear on the soundtrack *.
WHY IT MATTERS
BUCKET LIST: the "Saviors" tour wrapped in September 2025 after 106 shows *, and this is the closest thing to a Green Day vault opening we've gotten. What's surprising is that a band at this level dumped it on YouTube for free instead of walling it off behind a paid documentary.
