Beck has dropped "Disappearing Act," the third single from *Ride Lonesome*, out September 18th via Capitol *‡. It's his first album in roughly seven years — his 15th — and he produced it himself with Nigel Godrich mixing *‡.

THE TAKE
Reassembling the *Sea Change*/*Morning Phase* band and handing the mix to Godrich isn't nostalgia bait — that lineup is the reason those records still hold up. Seven years off and a self-production credit says he took his time; the tell will be whether the reverb serves the songs or hides them.
