Slipknot Drop ‘Arsenal’ With New Drummer Eloy Casagrande—First Track Since Lineup Shake-Up

THE DROP

Slipknot surprise-dropped "Arsenal" on Sept. 9 — their first new song since 2022's The End, So Far and the first ever recorded with drummer Eloy Casagrande ^§, ^¶. It's also their first release on their own (sic)est Records now that the roughly 25-year Roadrunner deal is finished ^¶.

WHAT TO KNOW

No Sid Wilson, who exited in August, and no Craig Jones; the new press photo shows eight members ^*.
Clown directed the video, starring actor Jackson White, and the song premiered as BBC Radio 1's Hottest Record ^§, ^¶.
Corey Taylor: "It pummels. It is absolutely a pummeling experience." ^¶
Jim Root says roughly 50 arrangements are in progress with producer Matt Wallace — and "Arsenal" reportedly won't be on the album ^*, ^‡‡‡.
Reddit reaction skewed negative on the lyrics, though some fans said the band sounds fired up again ^†.

THE TAKE

The album talk is more interesting than the rollout: Root describes grind picking, doomy melodic riffs and Pink Floyd-adjacent experimenting coming out of jams with Casagrande ^§. Introducing a brand-new drummer with a track that reportedly isn't even on the record is a strange call ^‡‡‡.
