THE DROP
DOWN have dropped "The Myth" with a MetalDave Media video, the second single and opening track from "Volume V", out November 20 on Nuclear Blast *, ¶. It is their first full-length since "Down III: Over The Under" in 2007 §.
WHAT TO KNOW
- Lineup: Anselmo, Keenan, Windstein, Bower, Bruders, written mostly at Anselmo's Nodferatu's Lair studio *.
- Eddie Mapp produced with the band, Dave Fortman mixed, Maor Appelbaum mastered *.
- Anselmo says the track has "a big nod to TROUBLE," with Dio, Ozzy, Glenn Hughes and James Dewar as vocal reference points *.
- Track two, "Merciful Fate," features King Diamond trading vocals with Anselmo, plus Livia Zita *.
- Release show: Lakefront Arena, New Orleans, November 20-21, on a bill with Pantera's first NOLA show in 30 years *.
THE TAKE
Keenan calling it a "'70s jam trip" * tracks with what DOWN always did best: Sabbath worship filtered through Louisiana sludge. Eighteen years between albums is a long time to carry that weight, and a King Diamond duet on track two says they are not playing it safe.
