THE DROP
Saliva have dropped an official video for "Sin City Mistress," directed by Gray Taylors, from their twelfth album "Breaking Through," out in August via Judge & Jury Records *†. The label is Howard Benson and Neil Sanderson's own outfit, and both served as executive producers on the record *.
WHAT TO KNOW
- Album number twelve, 13 tracks, with "Sin City Mistress" sitting at ten and Johnny Van Zant-featuring "Longshot" closing it out *†.
- Guests: Van Zant (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Trevor McNevan (Thousand Foot Krutch) and Austin John Winkler (Hinder) *.
- Produced by frontman Bobby Amaru with Steve Perreira *.
- Amaru has fronted the band since 2011; founding guitarist Wayne Swinny died in 2023. "This band meant more to Wayne than music itself, and he wanted us to continue in its current form," Amaru said *.
- They're touring 25 years of "Every Six Seconds" with Drowning Pool — and catching heat because nobody currently in Saliva played on it †.
THE TAKE
The producer chair is the interesting part here: Benson and Sanderson executive producing means this record got real ears on it, not just another indie-label dump. The anniversary tour is the harder sell — celebrating an album your entire lineup had no hand in is a tough pitch to anyone who bought it in 2001, and the criticism isn't unfair †. Worth noting the album ends on Van Zant, not on a nu-metal throwback.
