Correction, Oct. 19, 2026: An earlier version of this article said Guns N' Roses were taking 2027 off "to record" and that Slash "confirmed a new album." Slash didn't say either of those things in this interview. He said the band will stop touring next year and that he hopes they'll use the break to work on new material. We've updated the headline and the article, and we regret the error. Details are at the bottom.
Guns N' Roses fans should plan for a quiet 2027. Speaking with Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM's Trunk Nation on October 12, Slash said the band will step off the road once the current run ends. *
"Next year, basically, Guns is off," he said, explaining that the band has "so much material that we need to put together and start getting into that whole phase." When Trunk asked whether the idea was to use the break for writing, Slash agreed, adding, "I'm hoping that's what the next phase is gonna be." *
According to Slash, the problem is that the band can't work on new songs while touring. He's comfortable writing on the road, but Axl Rose and Duff McKagan each work on their own, and "getting us together and trying to do that while you're touring is next to impossible." *
No album has been announced. If one does come together, it would be the band's first full-length since 2008's Chinese Democracy, and the first with Rose, Slash and McKagan since 1993. *
In a January interview with Abe Kanan of Audacy, Slash said "Atlas" and "Nothin'" were the last of the reworked older Axl tracks. In a separate January interview with Sylvia Alvarado of KOMP 92.3, he said the band's next record would be "all new original stuff." *
Before the break, GN'R still has November and December dates in India, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. They'll also play two "Aerosmith + Friends" shows at the Hollywood Bowl on October 29 and November 1. *, †
What we got wrong
Our original headline, "Guns N' Roses Taking 2027 Off To Record — Slash Confirms New Album In The Works," went beyond what Slash said. In the Trunk Nation interview he talked about touring stopping and his hope to work on new material. He didn't confirm an album or recording plans. We also embedded the wrong video: it was a January 2026 interview, not the Trunk Nation conversation. We've removed it and linked the correct source.
