THE DROP
Five Finger Death Punch just dropped "De Oppresso Liber" and announced *Legacy*, their tenth studio album hitting digital July 31st and physical September 18th *. The album marks twenty years of the band, and the new single tackles soldiers being thrown into "geopolitically motivated wars" by politicians *.
WHAT TO KNOW
- Ten-track album with a staggered release: digital late July, physical formats (CD, vinyl, cassette) mid-September *, †
- Nine different vinyl variants planned plus three exclusive CD editions and an indie cassette *
- "De Oppresso Liber" (Latin for "to free the oppressed") explores political themes around military service *
- World tour already underway as of June 18th; North American dates run July 20–October 18 *
- "Eye of the Storm" was the first single from *Legacy* *
THE TAKE
A politically charged military anthem for an anniversary record is exactly the kind of move 5FDP fans expect — direct, unapologetic, and built for arenas. Zoltan Bathory frames the song as "paying respect" to those who "stand between danger and those who cannot defend themselves" *, which will land with their base even if the geopolitical critique stays surface-level.
