THE DROP
Electric Callboy dropped "The Way You Are" — the eighth single from *Tanzneid* (out August 7) — and it's exactly what the band promised: a late-'90s boy band ballad that morphs into what they're calling one of the heaviest songs they've ever written *, †. The video goes full blood-soaked parody, turning Backstreet Boys nostalgia into a deathcore nightmare *, †.
WHAT TO KNOW
- Eighth single from *Tanzneid*, the band's seventh album and second since the 2022 name change from Eskimo Callboy *
- Previous singles include "Ratatata" with Babymetal, "Let The Good Times Roll" with The Offspring, and a Sum 41 cover *
- The band describes the concept as contrasting the sweetest boy band love ballad with their heaviest material *, §
- Album release party hits their own Escalation Fest on August 7 at Berlin's Huxley's Neue Welt, followed by a headlining set August 8 *
THE TAKE
Electric Callboy built their reputation on genre-mashing chaos, and a boy band-to-deathcore flip is perfectly on-brand — the question is whether the contrast actually lands or just feels like the same trick with different window dressing *, †. Eight singles deep before the album drops is a lot of pre-release material, but if they're confident enough to call this one of their heaviest, it's worth hearing whether they can still surprise anyone *, §.
