Bring Me the Horizon Singer Concussed After Fan Throws Phone at Him

Bring Me the Horizon Singer Concussed After Fan Throws Phone at Him

Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes took a phone to the head during the band’s Monday night show at Enterprise Center in St. Louis, and it wasn’t just a glancing blow — the singer ended up with a mild concussion *. The incident went down during “Happy Song,” the fourth track of the evening, when some genius in the crowd decided to launch their device at the stage *. Video from the show caught the moment the phone smacked Sykes near the temple, and you can see him pick it up, give it a quick look, and hand it off to security before pushing through the rest of the set *. The band powered through all 16 songs on the setlist, but Sykes was clearly rattled, telling the crowd he felt dizzy and repeatedly touching his head throughout the performance *.

The impact left visible damage — Sykes posted to Instagram Stories showing swelling at his temple and scratches in the area, confirming the mild concussion diagnosis *. He apologized to fans for what might have seemed like a lackluster performance, explaining that singing put pressure on the wound and caused disorientation . The band had to make adjustments on the fly, cutting “YOUtopia” from the setlist and skipping the usual crowd interaction during “Drown,” where Sykes typically walks the barricade and gets into the pit . One concertgoer later claimed the phone’s owner said someone else grabbed and threw his device, though that doesn’t make the situation any less ridiculous .

By the next day, Sykes reported the swelling had gone down significantly and said he expected to be ready for the Kansas City show at T-Mobile Center . The tour rolls on with dates in St. Paul and Chicago before wrapping with a headlining slot at Sonic Temple festival in Columbus, Ohio on May 16 *. The band also announced they’ll be back in North America this fall for a primarily Canadian run called POST HUMAN: NeX GEn – THE THIRD ASCENSION PROGRAM . Here’s hoping fans keep their phones in their pockets and their hands in the air where they belong.
