Islander’s Deftones cover is a banger, but the crew debates if it’s *too* faithful to the original, plus Royal Blood gets raw and a criminally underrated duo drops a debut that’ll blow your mind. 🔥
LET’S GET ROCKIN’:
▸ One host calls Islander’s Deftones cover of “Back to School” “sick” but “almost too true to form,” sounding “just like the original.”
▸ The crew discusses how Deftones doesn’t like playing “Back to School” because it was a record company obligation, leading Islander to cover it as a “lost song.”
▸ One host prefers covers to be “different enough” from the original or recorded live, citing a Nine Inch Nails cover as an example of being too similar.
▸ The crew digs Royal Blood’s new track “Ten Over 10,” noting its “more raw” and “less polished” sound after the band took two years off to make music *they* wanted.
▸ One host, a fan of two-piece bands, describes Royal Blood as sounding like “I wish the Black Keys did,” while another praises the production but found the song “a little meandering.”
▸ The band described their new sound as “Desert Rock Meets Motorhead,” and the crew agrees the album artwork “rips.”
▸ A host raves about criminally underrated duo Fury and Few’s debut album “How Bad Do You Want It?”, calling a track a “fucking banger.”
▸ Discovered on TikTok, the Atlanta duo’s sound blends Nirvana and Helmet influences with a “retro” but “modern feel.”
▸ The crew debates who Fury and Few could open for, with one host suggesting Beartooth.
