THE DROP
The Devil Wears Prada dropped the video for "When You're Gone" off their ninth album *Flowers*, which came out last November on Solid State *. Keyboardist Jonathan Gering produced the record during a three-week session at an Arkansas VRBO, then the band brought in Zakk Cervini for mixing and mastering *.

THE TAKE
A self-produced metalcore record that deliberately avoids epic war themes and futuristic posturing sounds like either a creative risk or a band finally comfortable enough to stop performing. Hranica and DePoyster both talk about needing emotional validation in their lyrics, which explains why *Color Decay* connected hard enough to sell out arenas — sometimes the mask needs to come off.
