THE ANNOUNCEMENT
Queens Of The Stone Age just dropped their full KEXP session online — but this isn't five guys in a room running through radio hits ‡. KEXP captured the entire second act from the band's three-act Catacombs tour, recorded in late April before that run wrapped May 1st, complete with orchestral arrangements, tuba, French horn, violin, cello, and Josh Homme waving a cleaver under red lighting ‡.
THE DETAILS
- Four-song set recorded at KEXP studios in Seattle in late April 2026 ‡
- Full orchestral lineup beyond the core band, including strings and brass ‡
- Setlist: "Someone's in the Wolf/A Song for the Deaf/Straight Jacket Fitting" medley, "Mosquito Song," "Keep Your Eyes Peeled," and "Spinning in Daffodils" ‡
- Session ends with a brief Homme interview about re-orchestrating the band's catalog for the Catacombs shows ‡
- Available now on YouTube via KEXP *†‡
- Queens join Foo Fighters' Take Cover tour August through September 2026 ‡
WHY IT MATTERS
BUCKET LIST — this is the only way most fans will experience the Catacombs arrangement, since that tour ended in May and featured a rotating theatrical setup that won't translate to arenas or festivals. KEXP sessions usually showcase bands in their stripped-down form; Queens brought an entire orchestra and turned it into a cabaret from hell instead ‡.
