"And we were able to do a record with him, and we're really super proud of it." * That's Marcos Curiel on P.O.D.'s finished twelfth album, tracked with Grammy-winning producer Will Yip at his new Memory Music Studios in South Philadelphia — the first time the band has ever recorded outside California *. Sonny Sandoval went further, floating it as possibly the best album P.O.D. has ever written *.
THE DETAILS
- Curiel and bassist Mark "Traa" Daniels laid it out to FemMetal, with Blabbermouth reporting on August 30 *.
- Curiel says 13 or 14 songs were fully tracked — drums, guitars, vocals — in 12 days, with the band crashing in an Airbnb a ten-minute walk away *.
- Curiel wrote on a seven-string guitar for the first time, covering roughly six or seven songs *.
- A different producer was originally lined up before that fell apart; Curiel and Yip first connected online as mutual fans *.
- Follows 2024's "Veritas" (Mascot), which hit the Top 10 on three U.S. Billboard Current charts and featured Randy Blythe and Tatiana Shmayluk *.
